Hawthorne Plaza

The Overland Park boutique shopping center, built more than 22 years ago, underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation to present a fresh modern look to attract tenants and to improve the pedestrian/patron experience. Renovations included new, taller facades to improve visibility from 119th Street and Roe Avenue; resurfaced parking lots; additional landscaping; and widened sidewalks adjacent to storefronts. Gathering spaces with additional seating and areas to display local artwork were also created.

The upgrades attracted new nationally-known tenants. Although some front-end parking was eliminated, the total number of parking spots increased by 50. Hawthorne Plaza maintained normal business hours during the renovation.
