An Open Resource for the Community The new South Branch Library has become a centerpiece of the Argentine District since its opening. In an area that has seen its share of challenges, the library provides an architectural icon and a focal point for the whole neighborhood. Replacing an aging and outdated facility, the new library is flooded with natural light, flexible in its configurations and wired for today’s technology. The library was funded by the Kansas City, Kansas school system, but is open as a resource and a centerpiece for the whole community. Inside, there is something for everyone – study areas, flexible stacks, conference rooms, art areas, a children’s story time area and even a community room.
