A County Naturally Connected Clark County has tremendous natural resources yet had few developed areas for active recreation to support tourism and their downtown areas needed significant revitalization.  Hoefer Wysocki was part of a multidisciplinary team, leading the planning and urban design effort.

Building upon previous strategic efforts, the plans provided urban design, planning, redevelopment, market, tourism and entrepreneurial strategies for each community. A highlight of the effort was consensus building with stakeholders and leadership to tailor more sustainable courses of action for community enhancement.

Key recommendations included leveraging the assets of two universities to make defined social, economic and physical connections between Arkadelphia’s downtown and the university realm; redeveloping under-utilized properties along the Caddo River to develop public-private opportunities; and focus on a regional tourism and recreation-oriented business recruitment as a primary component of economic development.
